Well, if you've tried refilling it with water, and the problem just seems to be worse when full with water, then yeah, you're pretty much just stuck with having to dig in it alittle more to fix the problem, but none the less, look at the bright side man, atleast it didn't get into the oil!! You'd be floating down a whole other shit creek if it had lol. From here, just remove the top end from the motor (i.e.- valve covers, intake manifold ) anything that needs to be removed to pull the heads off. Now remove the heads. If you get the heads off without majorly damaging the head gaskets, try to check the gaskets for obvious signs that the gasket is bad, it may help you find exactly which head gasket went bad, if you can't tell, don't worry about it, not that big of a deal. Now with both heads out, check both of them the best you can for any hair line cracks, because it's very possible you could have a cracked head. If you find an obvious crack, you need to replace that head. If you can't find any, I would still suggest taking the heads to a head shop and have them check them for cracks and warpage, they could also/and/or be warped. After that you should definiatly know if you need a new head(s) or not. After that is said and done, go to local auto parts store or the head shop and pick up a gasket kit. The kit should contain most of all your gaskets for the motor, including 2 new head gaskets. After that, put your new gaskets on, heads, top end parts, fill'er back up with water, fix the damn drain plug! lol, and you should be good to go. And, if this is your first time digging into a motor, or it's not a motor your familar with, I would suggest stoppin' by an auto parts store and pickin' up a Chilton's book for your truck. The book will cover every repair and mantiance issue for your truck and motor step by step, with pictures. With that, a friend or two to help, you should have no problems.....
